It is a time for tears
not the first in all these years.
It is sad to see her fall
may she rest in peace,
that is all...

Yes, it's just too sad. I didn't watch it, I guess that I was lucky I didn't, I would've cried more than I did by just reading it in the headlines.

I got distracted and forgot to watch it. Now I am kinda glad I missed it. It was bad enough hearing about it afterwords. I'm not a thoroughbred expert, but I think they should not be saddled until they are 3 yr. olds. And then run the Derby as 4 year olds.

A sad end to a gallant mare who had the talent to run against the boys.

I cant believe they ride 1-2 year olds and race them too! it breaks them down, plus I noticed in pictures Eight Belles had no front leg wraps, but she did have back leg wraps, and noticed other horses with wraps on all their legs. I think she easily could have won, but where were her front leg wraps? plus they whipped her too hard too much, that poor 2 year old filly baby. I am beginning to think they race them this way, so they break down sooner, so they can race the next yearlings/2 year olds. Like they don't want them to live long, so they don't have to feed and take care of 20 and 30 year old horses. That would cost them too much money, and their goal is to make money off of this fatal sport. Too many horses are dying from racing this hard, as babies. All my opinion. Does anyone agree?
