Panama is a chunk this winter too. The barn manager gives him more hay in the winter (as he should), and I haven't been working him as often (bad Mommy!). But a little extra weight isn't necessarily a bad thing in the winter!
I don't think there's a lean being at Casa Fry. Me, Mr. Fry and all our critters are fat and sassy. That's a bad angle. I would never photograph my horses at that angle for fear someone would unleash Fugly on me.
That's not a horse, right? It's really the Good Year Horse Blimp! hehe
You have seen my chubby, rolly polly mare, haven't you?
I'd love to see Baby Doll stand side-by-side with Lostine and see who wins the fatty award.....I'm sure it would be my girl! lol!
For some reason I have the weird urge to stick a finger on each side of Lostine's belly....and 'pop' her. I wonder if all the air would come out...and maybe a burp (and fart), too. lol! :D
Really, though, I think Lostine is gorgeous. I always have. She is obviously well cared for, and it shows. :)
I'm shopping for grazing muzzles myself. Lostine is such a beautiful girl, but don't ignore her chubby tummy . I did and look what happened to Siete. Now that she lost 100 pounds, she's a healthy, much happier horse. I learned the hard and expensive way that overweight horses get seriously sore feet.
Victoria - No need to worry. It's really just the camera angle. If you look at her from the sides you can see the faint outline of ribs. She was really heavy when I first bought her, but I've kept her at an average weight. She's had 5 babies, so her bulk tends to concentrate in her belly. I've experienced first-hand being overweight and having sore feet myself, so I'm sensitive to the problems that being overweight brings to both people and animals.

ROFL! I love that look she is givin' you...you can almost see her thinking..."You're gonna cut my feed aren't you? I know you are. You're MEAN!"
Straight on photo shots can be so unflattering. She's not overweight, she's just under tall.
LOL At least my horses aren't the only ones that have "wintered well"!!
ROFL

Stop being ugly to her!!! I think she looks perfect and her contented look says she agrees with my statement.
(in our family she would be described as "fluffy")
LOLOLOL! I'm sure mine are fatter! Maybe it's a wide angle lens!
