Sunday Stills: Flowers and Plants

These are the only flowers I could find nearby this time of year: Apple blossoms...

Crabapple blossoms...

These little suckers we all know so well...

And unfortunately, some are taking full advantage of the wind to assure the survival of their species...

Since Baasha has been banned from being on the front lawn alone, I sometimes take him up there in hand to get him to eat the dandylions (lionteeth in german!). He is really good at seeking them out, but I help too, picking them as fast as I can, and then offering them by the handfull. Then he gets lazy and won't search anymore, cuz I'm doing all the work for him. Nice.

Your apple blossoms are gorgeous! We have them too, holding so much promie for FREE HORSE TREATS! And Lord willing and the creek don't rise, Baasha won't destroy the orchard before harvest.

I like your shots! I happen to like dandelions, just not in my yard! And our apple tree has lost all the blossoms and is fruiting now.

The funny thing is that I hand grazed each of my horses this week, and they each ate around the dandelions. I suppose if I dug them up by the roots and fed them to the horses in buckets when they've got nothing but dirt, they wouldn't complain. What I really need is a guinea pig or a rabbit. Unfortunately, GPs and buns would have to live outside, because I'm allergic to their dander.

My chickens adore dandelions. My daughter plucks them and tosses them into their coop. I like the bright yellow dandies because they add such a sunny splash of color in our stark landscape.

Your apple blossoms are beautiful. We've got two apple tree blooming now, too. Last year we had that late May freeze and snow storm and all the blooms froze off. No fruit last Fall. I hope this year isn't a repeat!

Nice photos - apple blossoms are one of my favourite things. We had a small apple orchard on our farm when I was growing up. There is nothing quite like the smell of 30 or so apple trees in blossom... 'Course there were lots of bees too - good thing we weren't allergic to bee stings!

I have not seen dandelions in the longest time!! We don't get those down here too much, or at all. Beautiful shots!
