White Tail

Flying Lily got inspired by Lytha to clean John's tail, and I took up the challenge too. Bombay's tail has been a pee-yellow all winter, so I cleaned it the best I could. Believe it or not, this is the after-bath shot. I ran out of Quicksilver and had to use some other horse shampoo. I'll have to wash it a few more times before it's completely white, but I don't think this is bad for the first bath of spring.

Since it's still yellow on the ends, I decided to take a couple of pictures in black and white to make it look whiter.

I must have done something to scare Bombay, because he's got his tail between his legs...

Hey, I think that looks pretty good! You're really on top of things... I still have yet to give Panama his first bath of the season.

Bombay's tail is very pretty! I hosed Nadia and Scout down but I haven't washed them yet. I can't find my purple shampoo.

Liquid blue laundry detergent also works great on manes and tails. Make sure you wash it out real good though.
Ingido has yet to get her tail bath of the spring. Maybe Saturday.

I think my tail would be between my legs after that much scrubbing too...

I feel your pain with the pee-yellow tails! Both my girls have yellow ones at the moment! If we could ever get some decent weather around here, I would wash them!
Bombay's tail looks great!

I am a firm believer in knowing my own weaknesses, and one of those is the complete lack of ability to keep a grey horse looking clean. It's just better for me to stick to brown horses.

That said, I'm always impressed by ANY grey horse that doesn't look green, and know that people who own/ride/show clean-looking greys are made of a better stuff than me.

Liquid blueing or Palmolive dish soap( if you can get it there ) used it on my old APpy mares butt and you couldn't look at it it was so white!

Now you've inspired me! Those are great photos, I love a clean tail. Baasha has babyoil tail right now, icky, but it helps him stop rubbing.

At least I should wash the bottom half of his tail tomorrow. Oh, is that allowed on a Sunday? *giggle*

Good job, NM!

Now you'll have to time it and see how long it takes before the tails are yellow again. lol!
