Say Hello to My Little Friends

My daughter says she wants to be called "The Bunny Whisperer." When she's outside exercising in the evening, jackrabbits appear out of the brush across the road and hop right up close to her to eat apples that have fallen from our apple trees.

I don't know why I get so much joy out of seeing bunnies on my lawn and driveway, but it truly is the highlight of my day. This one reminds me of the Playboy bunny...

And this one is the centerfold...

I love bunny tails...

...bunny ears and bunny eyes...

Unfortunately, every time I'm taking pictures of bunnies, some neighbor has to come out to investigate what I'm doing, which scares them off.

My nosy neighbor spent quite a bit of time sitting in her car doing surveillance in front of my house today. Each time I went outside to move the hose around the pasture, she was either parked in front of my house or driving past very slowly and staring. I made ape faces at her, which only made her stare even harder trying to figure out if I was insulting her or just having a seizure.

I felt another pair of eyes on me and turned around to find this nosy fellow...

He likes bunnies too.

Bunnies are cute! Even if they are a garden disaster waiting to happen. What's with the neighbors?! Have they always been like this? Weird...

The neighbors are an ongoing drama that I mention from time to time in my blog. The woman is obsessed with me and stalks me. Why? I think she just has a compulsion to always be in someone's business, and I'm the closest person. I can't go outside without her making an appearance. She's actually better than she used to be. She used to hide behind trees, vehicles, and my barn so that she could spy and eavesdrop on me. Now she puts herself out in the open and outright stares at me like her husband does. I can't shovel manure at my house without having an audience. These people find everything I do to be fascinating.

That darn crazy neighbor lady! She always has to get in the way!

Oh! What great bunny pictures! I have some from Panama's first barn that I will have to post sometime. Two rabbits had a showdown right in front of me and I was lucky enough to have my camera handy. :o)

There were bunnies all over that place. Panama was scared of them. Scary horse-eating bunnies!!! :o)

It MUST be your stunning good looks, NM! They just can't keep their eyes off you...
But, apart from that: Have you tried speaking to them about it? What amazes me is that they obviously don't understand that they are pestering you. Or don't they care?

The bunnies are really, really cute, lovely pictures, thank you! How nice to have them so close.

They dance in the full moon you know. They do it in my back yard all the time. They sit in a circle and one by one they hop strait up in the air. Quite interesting to see.

There are a lot of bunnies up at the ranch, too. I love them! I don't like the snakes, though! Ugh!

We may need to round up the whole horsey blogosphere and organize a posse to fix that neighbor. I think she's obsessive.

Oh, and I love the Jack Rabbits down in our Mexican desert. About the size of kangaroos without an ounce of fat.

You sure would have fun at my house!!! We have SO MANY bunnies!! Since our house is surrounded by corn fields, all of the bunnies hang in our grass buffett (yard!).

Love those bunny photos! and your horse spying on you was too cute!

I'm sure glad that I live on a dead end with no chance of any neighbors like yours! That would make me crazy! I don't know how you do it.

lol! Did you make an ape face at him, too?
I was cracking up at the thought of your nosy neighbor wondering if you were having a seizure. NM, you've got a brilliant sense of humor. I love a cynical, dry, wittyness in a person. You master it, my friend! hehe!

Oh...and playboy bunnies and centerfolds. Cute and funny!

I'm not surprised that you are so enchanted by the bunnies so much. You love guinea pigs, too. There is something about those small furries with their quivering noses, isn't there?

I used to rescue rabbits, care for them, and then rehome them. At one point I had 7 rabbits in my home and in hutches. Several of them were litterbox trained in the house...and would lay on the vent to keep cool in the summer and warm in the winter. (That was when we lived in South Carolina for a few years) All the rabbits came back with us to New Mexico, several died soon afterwards and the rest we re-homed. I miss having bunnies sometimes.
I think it would be great to have an angora rabbit so I could use the shedded wool to spin and knit.
