Scrappy Lives Up To His Name

Scrappy found a pile of fabric scraps I pulled out and tossed on a chair. I've never seen a dog who likes to nest as much as this boy. Being short-haired and originally from Northern California, I suspect he's going to need a lot of blankets this winter. I'm thinking of putting the king-sized bed quilt I've been making for the past several years on hold in order to make a quilt just for Scrappy. I think he'd appreciate it.

Savanah loves to sleep and make nests too. No made bed is safe from her or is a fresh laundry basket. Getting her off is a whole chore in it's own she gets REALLY angry when you try and shoo her from her warm nest of clean clothes or freshly fluffed (AKA sheets ripped right off the mattress and blanket nested in) bed she has made for herself.

Look up Daschunds and you'll discover that the breed loves to burrow into and tunnel underneath just about anything to get cozy.

I was surprised after adopting Dobbie how much she is driven to burrow under my blankets when I go to sleep. I don't mind at all, though, because with her long doxie body she presses herself against my back or legs and keeps me warm :)

And yes, get Scrappy a couple sweaters, jackets and fleece jammies. If I don't dress Dobbie warmly during the winter, she shivers terribly.

Scrappy is so cute!

We put a clip light w/ a flood light or heat lamp over the back of the sofa and the little, cold blooded dogs climb up there and bask like hot dogs at a convenience store! Ahem, not that we spoil them **grin**. They'll lie up there w/ hot faces on, happy as clams.

Our German shepherd, who has mange/canine lupus/cushings (the vet has said all three!) loves to curl up on blankets. And, yes, during the winter, he gets cold because he is losing his hair! I usually find one at a thrift store, give it to him, put it under the kitchen table, and he is a happy camper! And, yes, he, too, likes to curl up on whatever clean clothes he can find!!!

He's such a sweet looking little guy. I think he would appreciate the quilt :)
I saw in a catalog the other day, heated dog beds. Just like an electric blanket. I thought that was genius, and I know my dogs would love one or ten.. but at $50...a bit out of my range. Still genius. (wondering if I could make one...hmmm)
