Snow Play Videos

I filmed the horses playing in the snow. It was warm enough that I could remove their blankets and let them romp around together. They keep sleeping on their manure to stay warm at night, so they've got some ugly stains on their fur, but otherwise, this is a beautiful sight to see. Bombay kept teasing the girls and showing off.

When they throw their heads in the air and make a half circle with their noses, that's the same thing we as humans do when we make a big sweeping motion with one arm to say, "Come on! Follow me! Let's play!"

Bombay is so strong and athletic, and his movement is completely different from the way the mares move. Gabbrielle has a very curvy, beautiful and fluid movement because she arches her neck and flags her tail. She was definitely bred for halter. Lostine doesn't run around a whole lot, but you do get to see her roll. Be patient with the first video. It's starts out boring, but the action picks up halfway through.

Great videos. They're so beautiful and fun when they're playing and running around. I like the part in the first video where they scare each other too lol

Gorgeous ,and what fun! Wondering about the snow paile Lostine seems to be guarding,Is there a salt block there or is she just making a stand for the heck of it

Great fun!

Gosh, I'm glad we're done with the snow. Our trees are budding and the horses are shedding out. I rode in jeans and a short-sleeved tee yesterday.

Hang on, Spring is on the way!

fernvalley01 - Lostine is making a stand just for the heck of it. That's an old tree stump under there. Although, the horses do like to chew the wood. I can't see the jolly balls and basketballs under all that snow, so I have to be careful where I step.

I'm particularly impressed with Lostine's snowman.

How many equines have developed such a talent for snow sculpture?

Appreciate your supportive words over my way. We'll get through it, somehow.

First of all, I love the snow nibbling! (When in doubt about what to do, just nibble some snow, even if half of it falls out of your mouth!) I love watching them throw their heads around. You realize how strong and and huge they are, and yet everything they do is graceful. Watching these clips, again I am amazed that we humans are able to ride them. We are so lucky.

What a sweet little herd--they really are respectful of each other even in play. Bombay is very athletic! They're all beautiful. Thanks for sharing the movies, I feel like I know them better now.

Linda - I don't share videos often, because viewers have a tendency to point out everything that is wrong with my horses or my lunging or the position of my tack or my riding or whatever. Then I worry for months on end about what everyone said. I don't need any more worries right now. There's something about video that pulls the audience in, and even though they don't have the full context, they think they do, and they become critical. So, that is why I usually stick to still shots. Fortunately, all the responses were good this time around.

I love the videos!! Everyone is so gorgeous and spunky and playful. I love the dragon snorts. And Bombay had me cracking up in the second video. I wish he could come play with Chrome on the lease land. I think they would have a ball together!

Looks like they're all having a great time. I love how horses like to roll in snow. Bombay is especially the character, isn't he?
