Sunday Stills: Canine Companions

These are some of the pictures from my photo shoot at the local animal shelter a few weeks ago. Many of these dogs have already been adopted.

look at all those dogs! What incredible variety. It is hard to believe sometimes that all pet dogs have the wolf as their ancenstors!

I hope they all find good homes. I found myself drawn to the sitting up pitbull. :)

Your photos are fantastic!
I love the shot with the chocolate colored guy with all four feet off the ground - how cool!
The next shot, the Shepard-type guy is very 'deep'! He really looks lost in thought!

Great photos. #6, #7, #8 are my faves....the levitating dog...cool!
And I have a soft spot for GSD. The close up is wonderful!
And that chunky money chiweenie dog made me *snort* right out loud. lol!

ps I thought of you tonight and your "kinky cowboy" when I saw this post on another blog:

What a nice idea! And great shots. If I lived where you are I would snap up that little smooth-coated mahogany colored one in a heart beat! Her soul just shines right out of her eyes.

Those are some beautiful dogs. I especially like the fun in the last ones eyes.

They are all totally adorable. You do a good job capturing their personalities in the pictures. I'm glad most of them are adopted. They deserve loving homes.

You are capturing those personalities! The last is my favorite...

Yep, I love that trailer. You should get one. You can leave the hay on it and tie a tarp to the side rails if you can find one that will stand up to the wind. You might need to use a heavy canvas tarp instead of the plastic ones that are so popular. A trailer like that one is worth the investment if you have a truck to pull it because it comes in handy for all sorts of things. :)

What great photos of such nice looking dogs! I do hope they all find homes. You did them all justice by taking fab pics of each individual. They're definitely special.

I used to do the shelter photos too but none as fun as these! Great shots and generous heart!

Great photos. What a shame -- all the wonderful dogs seeking good homes. I hope all of these found loving families.

Do you share your photos with the shelter?

Nuzzling Muzzles said...

OE - Yes, I give all of my photos of shelter dogs to the non-profit organization of volunteers that organizes promotional events, and they use them to advertise. Printing them out is tricky, though, because I can print 4 8x10s before I run out of ink and have to pay $40 for another cartridge. I can't afford that, and though having a professional printer print them is less expensive, it takes more time and many of the dogs will have been adopted by the time I get the prints back. So, we just use the digital images on the Internet.

I hope you had as much fun taking these pictures as I had dreaming about adopting some of these pups :) Or at least with less difficulty as your previous posts sound like. I definitely love the floating pit bull, that's an awesome shot to catch.

Lots of good looking dogs in your pictures. And fun loving. And talented...especially that 6th shot of the dog that is levitating. Nice pictures and I'm glad the doggies are finding homes.

You did an awesome job capturing their spirits!! I love the concept and sure hope someone in our city considers doing it. Maybe I'll sign up and help them if I can find some time. You've inspired me.

Oh, what beautiful dogs! I love the black lab and the German shepherd! Did they all find homes?

Oh my gosh, I love the photo of the German Shepherd! Beautiful!

Some of the Pit Bulls are still waiting for homes, but I think the others have been adopted. I know that the German Shepard was adopted by the Sheriff's Department to go into police dog training. They lost one of their German Shepard's a couple of years ago in a freak accident when the deputy left the dog in his patrol car to respond to a call, and when he returned, his car was engulfed in flames. Very sad.

I wondered if we were going to get to see these. Good for you. I love how they capture the expression of each dog and how awesome that many of them have found homes. You must be thrilled.
