Legend of the Year Award

I received the following email from Alessandra regarding this year's Bayer Animal Health Legend of the Year Award:

"It is that time of the year again – time for horse owners to nominate their veterinarians or veterinary technicians for the outstanding work they do above and beyond their every day practice for the 2nd annual Bayer Animal Health Legend of the Year Award. The veterinarian or veterinary technician chosen will receive $5,000 to be donated to the equine-related charity or cause of their choice.

This year, Bayer is adding a new component that will allow horse owners to enter for the chance to win the trip of a lifetime.

So, how does it work and what can your readers win?

This year, horse owners who nominate a veterinary professional for the Legend of the Year Award, will be entered for a chance to win an all-expenses paid trip and ride-along with the equine-focused travel show, Equitrekking. There is no purchase to enter and the winner will receive the following grand prize:

·         An all-expenses paid trip to Mackinac Island, Michigan and ride-along with host Darley Newman on the PBS TV show Equitrekking
·         Dinner with Darley and the Equitrekking crew
·         A Charles Owen helmet (a $400 value): the perfect accessory for your TV debut!
·         A DVD memento of your time on the show to share with family and friends

The launch of this competition is August 1, 2011. Make sure to give your readers the chance to experience the Equitrekking adventure and to nominate their veterinary professionals by directing them to www.MyLegendaryVet.com."

Thanks! I'm going to write about my vet sewing a button on my dog's eye, among the thousands of other things he's done for my animals :) The man is a saint!!

forgive me for always seeing things from a skewed perspective, but did you know that bayer comes from wuppertal? my man's hometown and where we lived 2 years before coming to the sticks? and the big stadium for soccer near cologne is the bayer stadium i drive by every day. i just read the history of bayer (where i get my birth control and my other meds!) and they started out in wuppertal as a fabric dye company! who knew! they would have been more successful sooner if the war hadn't messed them up. i love that they sponser horse events, and provide horse meds. whenever i rode/ride the schwebebahn (hanging train) by the bayer factory in wuppertal, i see the employee red bicycles that they all ride around the campus. so cute! but here in germany they don't say bayer like we do, they say "buyer" (!!).: )
