It's a Dog's Life

I leave a dog bowl full of water out for whatever creatures need it.  I've seen all kinds of birds, ground squirrels, and bunnies drinking out of it.  I keep a rock in it so that the baby quail won't drown.  Today I saw the bunnies scatter, and this fellow found their watering hole:

We have coyotes here in Cleveland, but they are very elusive. When I do see them, it is a treat.

Some people hate them, but I have less trouble with them than the white-tailed deer. One time, one fought with my dog, but my dog started it, and I think we were close to the nest. I was able to break them up just by yelling and running towards them.

Come to think of it, that dog got attacked twice by deer. Yep, the deer are twice the problem.

My friends parents had a small autowater by the house with a brick in it for the wildlife too. Bunnies, quail, coyotes and the like could be seen at various times of the day coming for a drink. On occasion they got a stray javalina and would have to shoo them off pretty convincingly.

They lived right up against Usery Park so there was plenty of wildlife to be seen, even some deer now and then.
