New Tack Room

I was worried that the construction crew who built my tack room would be too hot working in the summer heat, but it ended up being a cloudy, windy, and rainy day.  We were originally told they would come in the morning and work all day.  Then they called and said they'd arrive between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM.  We were concerned that wasn't enough time for them to finish the job, and we really didn't want them coming back to finish on another day because we are quite busy.  As it turned out, it rained in the morning.  I got some pictures of a couple of vultures drying their feathers after the rainfall.

The builders ended up showing up closer to 1:30 PM.  We were expecting a whole crew, but they only sent two guys.  As soon as they began work on the roof, the sky grew dark and began roiling and grumbling, and the winds picked up.  We were worried the men would get blown off the roof.  As was, the wooden panels were being blown all over the place along with their garbage.

It sprinkled on and off, but for the most part, the storm just circled our property.  Luck seemed to be keeping it at bay.  They finished the job around 6:15 PM.  Here's the end result...

We have shelves at one end of the 10x20 structure.  We'll be adding in saddle racks and bridle hooks.  One window allows me to keep an eye on the horses in the paddock and barn...

The other window has a view of the mountains...

I put the windows in those locations in order to get cross breezes, even though it probably would have been more aesthetically pleasing to place them on each side of the door.

The sky was looking angry, and it started raining tonight with bright flashes of lightning and deafening thunder.  We lost our DirecTV connection.  Hopefully, all the paint on the tack room dried before the rain hit.  I'm looking forward to organizing our tack and cleaning out the horse trailer.
