Now I've Seen Everything

The heat is bringing out brazen behaviors in the wildlife.  The pictures speak for themselves.

Drinking out of the horses' water troughs...

Enjoying the shade...

Popping a squat on a manure pile...

Rock chases her away...

Oh, the excitement...

I didn't get pictures of the aftermath.  Rock promptly ate whatever the coyote deposited next to the barn, and Gabbrielle ran over to a water trough it had been drinking from and peed next to it as if marking her territory.  The quality of the pictures is poor because I had to snap them off quickly through a tinted window.

Hmm really not worried about being in a public area. Nice of you to water and provide shade :)

Is it just me or does her lower belly appear to be hairless. Perhaps she's nursing?

Very cool....unless you have barn kitties!

Camryn - I'm seeing hair on the belly in the pictures where she is perched on the water troughs. She is definitely skinny for some of the coyotes I've seen around here.

Dreaming - Having barn cats is just not something that people do around here. And if they have hens and roosters, they keep them in fully enclosed pens.

Wow!! Last year, we had deer come into our pasture to drink from the troughs. It had been a long, dry spring/summer, but nothing compared to what you experience in the desert. I'm sure more goes on around our house after dark.

Oh, wow! I've seen a LOT of rabbits up at the horse ranch, but no coyotes on their property. Oh, and ravens, too! They are practically tame. It's the same family of ravens over the years, so they are all used to people.
